A nod to the heresy of Earth

Retractable belt barrier stanchions create a halt. A line is drawn in space and deformed by a concrete brick. On the floor, collectable stickers depict planetary close-ups. Like shots from a movie, as seen in the subtitles, they conjure up a ‘speculative aesthetic’. Contours created with red tape point to Goode’s homolosine projection while dialoguing in hues with red sand. The banality of the objects in the scene suggests that artistic value isn’t inherent in the objects themselves, but in how they are presented and interpreted. The encounter with the artwork becomes a conversation: how can we understand art beyond the manifestation of the subject-object binomial?
