this is looking is a series of sound and spoken word pieces. Situated in a (predominantly) white, suburban, post-Apartheid South Africa, the stream-of-consciousness texts stitch together fragments of memories, familial and (re)imagined histories, and other trains-of-thought. It is a reckoning with a past and present which continues to haunt.

The work is an attempt to explore sounding, listening and writing as an embodied experience – with stream-of-consciousness writing serving as a listening of the senses. a tapping into the subconscious, so to say.
