LIMBO Tracker
LIMBO (Lost Inactive Mysterious Beeping Object) Tracker is an artistic research of receiving satellite signals. It includes a QHF antenna, a radio, a computer system, and several documents. The work presumes an imaginary figure tracking a particular satellite called TRANSIT 5B-5. The signal received by the antenna is converted into sound through a computer and radio conversion device and played. The data is a signal received from an actual zombie satellite (TRANSIT 5B-5) and converted into sound, the documents placed next to it are a part of records left by a fictitious person captured by this satellite.

The work involves an imaginary figure tracking a specific satellite named TRANSIT 5B-5, which was a U.S. Navy navigation satellite launched in December 1964. TRANSIT 5B-5 is the oldest satellite known to still emit a signal. It has been considered "dead" for many years because its navigational systems stopped working after nineteen days of operation, but for some reason, it still transmits a telemetry signal on 136.658MHz when its solar panel is illuminated by the sun. Some amateur radio operators have coined the term "Zombie satellite" to describe such satellites.

The imaginary character receives the signal from the zombie satellite without knowing whether it exists or not. She/He then creates and assigns a unique name to the origin of the signal and leaves a record of his tracking activities.
