“if I was a girl” is the second work by Chief Executive Girls. It was presented during the HFK Hochschultage 2026.
“if I was a girl” is an audiovisual installation playing with the cognitive dissonance of existing and performing online. It explores topics of performing gender roles and performative girlhood. Combined with a deliberate exploration of requisitioning reality in a time of hyper-real generated art, during the current and concerning socio-political state of the world.
Through a juxtaposition of analog and digital content, “if I was a girl” is a physical representation of digital rituals and the woman who dances perpetually in her room while the world falls apart.
This piece took form through a deconstructed audio visual:
an oversaturated social media inspired sound, a glitched tik tok dance video and a script printed as stream in thermal paper.
