HOMESICK is a simple seating furniture made of untreated birch wood with the bark still on it.
When you seat yourself on the stool it immediately begins to tell you of it’s home. An audio recording of the original habitat of the tree the stool is made from is played while you sit on it. When you stand up, the recording is stopped immediately and it will start at the beginning of the recording, when you sit down again.
An emotional connection between furniture and user and an awareness of the stool’s materiality and it’s origin are created in the act of sitting and listening.
