The hazy focus of Nature

Using an ancient medium to depict contemporary aesthetics, The hazy focus of Nature portrays the temporary existence of objects migrating from the digital realm to physical space. A collection of negative shapes produced in a laser cutter machine was placed on top of newsprint paper and exposed to the sun. The traces of the physical existence of these objects were recorded, renouncing the intrinsically sharpness of the digital and embracing the haziness and ephemerality of natural media. Prints condemned to erasure, produced and eventually obliterated by the effect of sunlight.

From H. Talbot’s early photo experiments to James Bridle’s New Aesthetic, both dealing with aesthetic languages that shifted in opposite directions between technological media and physical environment, The hazy focus of Nature is a temporary record of the intersection of both realms.
