Placebofied-Self is a series of hacked products which cause a placebo effect in its users. By manipulating results of different tracking devices (such as a scale, a skipping rope or a running app) the user will either be contented or pushed to achieve better results.

Placebo: a beneficial effect, produced by a placebo drug or treatment, that cannot be attributed to the properties of the placebo itself, and must therefore be due to the patient’s belief in that treatment.

The controller wirelessly syncs the placebo value with your cloud database using your home Wi-Fi network, so that all other devices easily & automatically receive the placebo value which will then be added to or substracted from the original value.

The work was exhibited at Galerie Herold in a group exhibition from October 6th to 11th 2015.
